How to Bring Good Health Habits to Your Office Without Disrupting Your Workflow

While difficult, it’s possible to instill some good health habits within your office space without distracting yourself from a smooth, effective workflow.

Skip Breakroom and Vending Machine Treats

Most offices, especially ones lined with cubicles, are loaded with vending machines and breakroom indulges. Someone is always bringing donuts one day or brownies the next. And those vending machines are loaded down with sodas and other sugary drinks to induce an afternoon crash at your desk.

Tip: Bring your own snacks. Prep baggies of your favorite healthy snacks, like your own trail mix that you can keep in a drawer at your desk. Or, sometime quick that you can grab from home, like celeries and ranch, cucumbers with cream cheese, or crackers and peanut butter.

Tip #2: Present the idea of a hot chicken case to your employers for the breakroom. This is a healthy, hearty way for you and your coworkers to get a good dose of yummy Rotisserie-style protein during lunchtime.

Bring a Gallon of Water to Work Every Single Day

Water not only hydrates your body but clears your mind, sharpens your focus, and makes you feel lighter, healthier, and better overall. While most nutritionists recommend at least 8 cups of water per day, a gallon of water per day is far more beneficial to ensuring your workflow is keen with zero fatigue.

Stretch and Perform Small Workouts at Your Desk

If you work at a desk, you need to stretch and walk around every 30-45 minutes to keep cramps and poor blood flow at bay. Get up and walk the perimeter of your office’s cubicles. Bend over and touch your toes and windmill your arms. Do a couple of jumping jacks for good measure. Just get your heart pumping a little faster to reap the health benefits.

Take Walks on Your Lunch Break

When you’ve been working all morning, taking a walk during your lunch break might be the last thing you want to do. But the fresh air and exercise will revitalize your mind and refresh your body. Maybe take your lunch outside, eat, then stroll around a local business or neighborhood park until it’s time to head back to finish your day.
